Sunward Steel designed and supplied this metal shop and garage in Ottertail, Minnesota.

Spacious and airy, the steel building has high ceilings and an open floor plan, making the interior suitable for work, storage and more. Sunward Steel worked closely with the building owner to create a shop and garage that would meet, not only his specific needs but also, the strict building codes of the area, adding heavy wind and snow loads for maximum durability.

Building Specification

Purchased in December 2020, the metal building has curb appeal thanks to Light Stone exterior paint and 6” of complementing Koko Brown accent trim. The shop also has 4’ of Koko Brown wainscoting along all sides and 6” snow gutters to match.

The 36’x44’x14’ metal shop building features hardy 26-gauge steel construction, and its steel roof has a 3:12 pitch. The building’s snow gutter system helps snow slide off the roof a little bit at a time, rather than all at once, helping protect both the roof and anything underneath it.

The steel garage has (1) 3070 walk door and (2) 12’x12’ overhead garage doors, both of which have windows letting natural light into the shop. The building also has a 60-psf snow load and a 120-mph wind speed rating in line with local building codes.
