Steel Storage & Agricultural Building in Bennett, Colorado
Sunward Steel made a pre-engineered metal building for a resident of Bennett, Colorado, sending the building components to the rural community along Colorado’s eastern plains in October 2023.
Custom-designed for both storage and agricultural use, the clear-span steel building has an open, flexible floor plan that provides plenty of space for the owner to store equipment, organize supplies or expand agricultural operations. Engineered to meet the owner’s precise needs and aesthetic preferences, the metal farm building has Charcoal Black walls, a Black roof and 6” of Black soffit trim contributing to its curb appeal.
The roof has 6” of WMP-VR-backed fiberglass insulation installed inside it, while the walls hold 4” of fiberglass insulation with the same heavy-duty facing protecting the blankets from condensation and damage. This insulation package allows the inside of the building to maintain comfortable, consistent temperatures throughout the year, making it well-suited for growing or storing temperature-sensitive goods.
Gutters and downspouts help prevent moisture or snow from accumulating on top of the structure and potentially compromising its structural integrity, while several large windows let natural light inside, reducing the building owner’s reliance on artificial heating systems during colder months.
Thoughtfully designed and engineered to last, this building is a smart investment the owner can rely on to meet his agricultural and storage needs for many years to come.
Building Specifications
This 60’x100’x16’ building arrived at the erection site in partially assembled pieces, leading to an easy, speedy erection process. Its gable roof has a slight 2:12 pitch, allowing snow to slide off easily, and two 4’x6’ windows illuminate the inside with natural light, enhancing ambiance while cutting energy costs.
The steel farm building has four access points, which include two traditional 3’4”x7’2” walk doors and two 12’x14’ overhead garage doors that make it easy to move vehicles, farm equipment or other large items in and out. Fabricated in line with local building codes, the metal building also boasts a 115-mph wind speed rating and a 30-psf roof snow load.
A small, rural community situated about 37 miles east of Denver, Bennett has sections in both Adams and Arapahoe counties. Nearby communities include Aurora, Parker, Watkins, Lochbuie and Strasburg.
