Prefabricated Steel Awning in Buffalo, New York

Sunward Steel was the proud provider of a pre-engineered steel awning in Buffalo, New York, sending the building components to the jobsite in late Sept of 2024.

Engineered to attach to an existing building used by The Teacher’s Desk, this durable metal awning protects educators from the elements while retrieving items for their students and keeps volunteers dry while serving them. The donation-based organization grants about 6,000 teachers across western New York access to free, quality school supplies for their classrooms, helping school districts get by on limited budgets while supporting students throughout the region. Spanning more than 560 square feet, the metal awning creates a covered curbside entry and drive-up area, providing ample space for educators to pull in and load up their vehicles.

Designed to complement the look of the existing Teacher’s Desk building, the partially enclosed, roof-only metal awning has a Charcoal Gray roof with Rustic Red trim and a 3:12 roof pitch that helps prevent rain and snow from collecting on top. Gutters and downspouts line the sides of the awning, helping divert moisture even further while preventing structural damage.

Economical, practical and easy to assemble, this prefabricated steel awning ensures papers, textbooks, electronics and other school supplies stay dry during retrieval, helping teachers effectively serve the more than 150,000 students The Teacher’s Desk supports each year, rain or shine.
