Steel Firehouse in Boardman, Oregon
Sunward Steel Buildings, Inc., was proud to manufacture and supply this pre-engineered steel firehouse building on behalf of a customer in Boardman, Oregon, in July of 1999.
Currently, the metal building functions as a firehouse for the Boardman Rural Fire Protection District, which assists the surrounding communities with a broad range of efforts including fire prevention and suppression, public education, rescue, wildland fire control, and initial hazardous materials response. This particular pre-engineered steel building is an addition to another structure that was already onsite, broadening the department’s capabilities while giving them more room for storage and operations.
A Trusted Regional Resource Since 1970
The Boardman Rural Fire Protection District has a lengthy and storied history in the region, and this particular prefabricated metal firehouse joined another building first erected at the site in 1971. An increasingly popular choice for communities looking for affordable, long-lasting construction solutions for firehouses and other municipal or government buildings, pre-engineered metal buildings are typically easier and cheaper to raise than more traditional wood buildings. They also tend to hold up better over time, needing little in terms of maintenance and resisting damage caused by weather conditions, pests, moisture and similar concerns.
Part of the Pendleton-Hermiston Micropolitan Statistical Area, the city of Boardman is a part of northern Oregon’s Morrow County. The community lies about 25 miles west of Hermiston and about 164 miles east of Portland.
