Prefabricated Steel Farm Building in Raymond, Illinois

When the owner of a Raymond, Illinois farm needed a safe, secure place to store and protect valuable farm equipment, he tasked Sunward Steel with designing and fabricating a structure to meet his needs.

Sunward Steel stepped up to the plate, sending the kit for this pre-engineered steel farm storage building to the small central Illinois village in early 2025. Spanning 2,223 square feet, the building has ample space for tractors, mowers, combines, planters, balers and other equipment needed to keep the farm running.

The metal storage building’s wide clear span eliminates interior support columns, making it easier to store, park, turn and maneuver large farm equipment. It also has two doors that make it easy for farmers to enter and exit and move machinery and other large assets in and out.

Designed to blend well with its natural Midwestern surroundings, the steel farm building has Polar White walls and a complementary Hunter Green roof and trim package. Like most pre-engineered metal buildings, it’s also designed for easy adaptability and expansion should the farm’s equipment storage needs change over time.

Built to protect farm assets from extreme temperatures, intense sunlight, moisture and the elements, the building helps reduce weather-related deterioration while preserving the functionality and resale value of tractors, tools and other equipment.

Building Specifications

Constructed from heavy-duty 26-gauge Hi-Rib panels, the metal farm storage building stands 39’x57’x14’ and features a gable roof with a modest 3:12 pitch. An 18’x14’ overhead door keeps large assets within easy reach, while a 3070 walk door provides a convenient entry point for everyday use.

Engineered to meet the building codes in place in Raymond, the structure also has a 110-mph wind speed rating and a 20-psf roof snow load.

With ample clear-span space, easy equipment access and durable steel construction, the new building gives the farm a dependable place to keep machinery secure and ready for use at a moment’s notice.

A small village in central Illinois’ Montgomery County, Raymond lies about 3 miles east of Zanesville and 12 miles north of Hillsboro.
