Prefab. Steel Agricultural Storage Building in Miles City, Montana

Manufactured by Sunward Steel in March 2021 and delivered to Miles City, Montana, this pre-engineered metal agricultural building merges rustic charm with modern utility.

Serving double-duty as a functional workspace and a practical storage solution, the structure includes one main clear-span metal building and two open-air metal lean-tos flanking either side. While the interior provides 3,600 square feet of usable space to store vehicles, ATVs and other assets, the lean-tos create additional covered parking for vehicles, protecting them from the elements while giving the owners easy access.

The main storage building, which features Rustic Red exterior paint and Polar White trim, exudes the classic appeal of a traditional barn. This nod to heritage blends seamlessly with the modern construction techniques employed by Sunward Steel, creating a striking, yet timeless, aesthetic.

Beyond its visual appeal, the Sunward Steel agricultural storage building prioritizes practicality and durability. Equipped with gutters and downspouts, it channels Montana’s considerable snowmelt away from the building, preventing potential damage to its structural integrity. The inclusion of four doors – two traditional walk doors and two overhead garage doors – ensures easy access and flexibility for building owners.

Mile City’s weather can be unpredictable, and this building serves as a reliable storage solution the owner can depend on, regardless of outside temperatures or climate patterns. The Sunward Steel agricultural storage building effectively meets the owner’s needs, combining superior construction and aesthetics with impressive functionality and careful attention to detail.

Building Specifications

Standing 60’x60’x16’ with a 12’x60’ steel lean-to on each side, this metal agricultural and storage building has a wide clear span and high ceilings that maximize space for stored goods. The main building’s roof, and those on top of each lean-to, have 2:12 pitches, preventing snow from piling up on top.

In terms of accessibility, the steel storage building has (2) 3070 walk doors and (2) 14’x14’ overhead doors, making it easy to enter and exit and move vehicles and other large items in and out. In consideration of Montana’s heavy seasonal snowfall and variable weather patterns, a 30-psf snow load and a 115-mph wind load are additional building enhancements that maintain compliance with local building codes.

Located in southeastern Montana, Miles City is the county seat of Custer County. The community sits about 45 miles east-northeast of Forsyth and about 75 miles southwest of Glendive.
