Steel Shop And Carport Buildings in Wellington, Nevada

A homebuyer in Wellington, Nevada, purchased a property with a Sunward Steel shop and garage already on it and bought a second Sunward Steel structure to add a versatile, shaded porch area to the setup.

The first metal building, supplied in December 2017, houses the owner’s collection of classic and antique motorcycles, helping preserve their functionality and resale value by keeping them safe and protected from the elements. The shop and garage building has a broad clear span that creates plenty of room for maintenance or restoration projects, and it also has 3.5” of WMP-VR-backed fiberglass insulation in the walls that make it suitable for year-round use.

The shop building has 4” rain gutters to channel moisture away from the walls and foundation. It also has three doors and two windows that enhance accessibility and let in plenty of natural light. Stone Beige walls and gutters and a Burnished Slate roof give the shop and garage nice street appeal, helping it blend well with the home and the natural beauty of the property.

The Roof-Only Steel Building

The second, roof-only metal building is similar to a carport but functions as a shaded porch, giving the owner a spacious, open-air place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. It can also house the owner’s RV when the need arises, providing reliable protection against the sun, rain or snow.

The new building boasts an attractive Burnished Slate roof with Polar White trim that complements the shop and garage building already on the property. The new metal cover attaches to the existing Sunward Steel shop along its high side wall, making smart use of space while creating a seamless, integrated look.

Building Specifications

The original Sunward Steel building on the property is 30’x40’x 16’ and has a gable roof with a modest 1:12 pitch overhead. It features the following framed openings:

  • (1) 3070 commercial walk door
  • (1) 12’x14’ overhead garage door
  • (1) 10’x9’ overhead garage door
  • (2) 6’x3’ windows

Engineered to meet the building codes in place in the area, the steel shop and garage also has a 115-mph wind speed rating and a 14-psf roof snow load.

The second, newer Sunward Steel building is 16’x40’x14.67’/16’, and its single-slope roof also has a 1:12 pitch. A 120-mph wind speed rating and a 33.6-psf roof snow load are additional customizations that enhance structural integrity given the climate characteristics of the area.

Durable, attractive and designed for use during all four seasons, the two buildings enhance quality of life for the homeowner while creating designated places to store bikes and enjoy Nevada’s natural beauty.
