Clear-Span Steel Aviation Hangar in Granbury, Texas

Aviation enthusiasts in Granbury, Texas, needed a safe, secure place to store their collection of small aircraft and ordered this prefabricated steel airplane hangar from Sunward Steel in June 2025. Resistant to pests, fire, humidity and other hazards that come with life in Texas, prefabricated metal hangars arrive ready to assemble, leading to fast construction times and reduced labor costs.

The hangar’s wide clear span covers 3,000 square feet, housing about three small, single-engine aircraft comfortably while keeping them out of the elements and humidity. Fiberglass insulation blankets line the metal building’s roof and walls, with 4” of fiberglass insulation in the walls and 6” of it in the roof creating a comfortable, energy-efficient environment ideal for storing planes or helicopters.

The insulation blankets have WMP-VR facing on the interior side, giving the hangar a bright, finished look, and 6” sticky tabs hold the blankets together, making a continuous seam that helps prevent air leaks. There are also five large windows that let in natural light, improving visibility and ambiance during the daytime.

Lower-maintenance and easier to customize than alternative hangar types, metal hangars combine durability, practicality and good looks, making them a smart way to protect planes and preserve their performance and value. This metal hangar grants its owners easy year-round access to their aircraft, keeping them stored at ideal temperatures and ready for use at a moment’s notice.
