Prefabricated Steel Dog Daycare & Boarding Facility in Anchorage, Alaska

A Sunward Steel client in Anchorage, Alaska, had plans to open a spacious, income-generating dog daycare and boarding facility and ordered this pre-engineered steel kennel building in March 2024.

Boasting a wide clear span and 9,600 square feet of open interior space, the durable, low-maintenance metal kennel is now the home of Camp Bow Wow Anchorage and has plenty of room for individual suites, dog runs, communal play areas, grooming facilities and administrative offices. Well-appointed and carefully designed on the inside and modern and eye-catching on the outside, the steel kennel has a combination of Black and Ash Gray outside walls with Ash Gray downspouts, a Black roof, trim and gutters, and Rustic Red exterior wainscoting.

A metal lean-to lines the kennel’s back side wall, creating a well-ventilated, open-air space for pups to play. The structure also features 8” gutters and downspouts, which are critical in Alaska, where heavy snow might otherwise collect on top of the roof and threaten structural integrity.

Designed for heavy use and foot traffic from employees as well as animals, this prefabricated steel kennel building serves double-duty as a safe, all-season place for residents to board their four-legged friends and a steady, reliable source of income for the business owner.
