Prefabricated Steel Storage Building in Edgewater, Florida

Sunward Steel was the proud fabricator of a pre-engineered steel building in Edgewater, Florida, supplying the building kit and customizing it to the owner’s liking in July of 2020.

Attractive on the outside and functional and practical on the inside, the custom steel building serves storage purposes, among others, and protects everything inside from the Florida elements and humidity. Designed for the area’s heavy annual rainfall, the low-maintenance metal building’s steel construction prevents warping, cracking and peeling, while 6” rain gutters along the roof divert moisture away from the building and its foundation, preserving its structural integrity.

The buyer chose Light Stone walls and Saddle Tan trim to help the building blend well with its natural environment, while Polar White doors add a clean, crisp contrast that boosts the structure’s curb appeal.

Other key customizations include a steel partition that divides the inside of the building into two distinct areas and seven doors, which include a combination of traditional walk doors and overhead garage doors that offer plenty of space to move boats and other large items in and out. The building also has liner panels along its roof and walls, creating an added level of protection against moisture and condensation while enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the interior.

Durable, versatile and visually appealing, this structure offers reliable protection for goods housed inside and superior defense against moisture, making it well-suited for life in the intracoastal waterfront Florida community.

Building Specifications

Constructed from rugged, long-lasting 26-gauge hi-rib panels, the steel building is 60’x50’x18’ in size and has a clear-span design that creates an open, flexible floorplan. It has the following door openings providing convenient entry inside:

  • (4) 3’4”x7’2” walk doors
  • (2) 12’x12’ overhead doors

The building owner also verified local building code requirements before finalizing the building’s design and Sunward fabricated it accordingly, complying with FBC 17 Version 6 building codes and adding a high, 180-mph wind load in consideration of the strong storms and hurricanes that come through the area.

Part of Volusia County and the Deltona – Daytona Beach – Ormond Beach metropolitan area, Edgewater sits along the Indian River North and sits about 13 miles southeast of Port Orange and roughly 95 miles from Ocala.
