Manufactured locally at Sunward Steel’s Jamestown factory, this metal equestrian building sits on an expansive and scenic 34.5-acre horse farm. Featuring durable, high-end steel construction, the building delivers unsurpassed strength and durability, resulting in optimal protection for horses and riders.

Insulated to maximize interior comfort and enhance energy efficiency, the building maintains consistent temperatures year-round, even in North Dakota’s long, snowy and sometimes bitterly cold winters. The building has two stories, one of which contains a riding arena and 20 horse stalls, and the other of which contains living quarters.

Steel Horse Barn Specifications 

Delivered directly to the jobsite following construction, this steel barndominium stands 100’x140’x20’ once raised and features a broad clear span that maximizes space for riding by eliminating interior supports. It has high overhead clearance, leaving plenty of room for equestrian efforts, and it also boasts space to board or house up to 20 horses at a time.

The equestrian building classifies as a “barndominium,” meaning it merges usable space with residential space, and the upstairs living quarters allows someone to keep an eye on the horses below at all times. The roof of the steel building is comprised of rugged Galvalume steel and has a slight 1:12 roof pitch, providing reliable protection from the elements.

In its roof and walls, the steel equestrian building has 6” layers of fiberglass insulation. The insulation greatly reduces the building’s lifelong energy expenses, and it also helps ensure that the building is suitable for use, regardless of outside temperatures. A 90-mph wind speed rating serves as another project customization that keeps the structure compliant with applicable building codes.
