The building undergoes use as a mountain maintenance shop and is located at the base of Mount Washington, the highest mountain peak in the Northeastern United States.
Heavily utilized by the Mount Washington Auto Road and the Mount Washington Observatory, a private, nonprofit research and educational institution used to research wind, weather, and climate, the maintenance building provides unparalleled structural integrity. This is especially important given its location in New Hampshire’s often cold, snowy White Mountains region.
The steel maintenance building plays a critical role in the observatory’s day-to-day operations and allows those who use the area to repair snowmobiles and other vehicles used on and around the mountain. The entire area is a popular tourist destination, and it also serves as a regular field trip spot for students from across New Hampshire and New England.
