With 9.5” of WMP-VR-backed fiberglass insulation in the roof and another 6” of insulation in the walls, residents enjoy optimal temperatures year-round while reducing energy consumption and related costs. The building also has 10 windows in a variety of sizes throughout, creating a bright and airy interior during the daytime.

Building Specifications

Constructed using rugged, superior-quality steel parts, the steel residence and garage is 32’x62’x12’. Its gable roof has a 6:12 pitch, allowing water to drain off easily, and the roof also has gable extensions that create covered outdoor space while protecting the outside walls. 

The steel barndominium also has (3) framed door openings that provide easy access inside. Included are (1) 3’4”x7’2” walk door, (1) 6’4”x7’2” walk door and (1) 9’x8’ overhead garage door for moving vehicles or other large items in and out. 

Engineered to meet or exceed local building codes, the metal barndominium also boasts a 20-psf roof snow load and a 115-mph wind speed rating, enhancing durability given the unique climate characteristics of the area. An unincorporated community in northwestern North Carolina, Todd has land in both Ashe and Watauga counties. It sits about 12 miles northeast of Boone and about 96 miles northeast of Asheville.
