Government Building in Prairie Lake, Wisconsin

Sunward Steel Buildings, Inc., manufactured and supplied this preconstructed steel building on behalf of a customer in Prairie Lake, Wisconsin, in June of 2010.

Currently, it functions as a municipal building for the small town of Prairie Lake, which is home to about 1,500 residents. In addition to an existing shop and garage building already on site, this insulated, highly energy-efficient steel building stands tall in the face of heavy snow, strong winds, and other Wisconsin construction concerns, giving town administrators a safe, secure, and reliable space to work and serve the surrounding community.

Affordable, Lasting Government & Municipal Buildings

A great option for communities looking to raise durable, long-lasting, and low-maintenance buildings on a limited budget, prefabricated metal buildings are fast and cheap to erect, saving cities and towns substantial money on construction costs. Ideal for use as city centers, town halls, libraries, schools, government offices, salt storage sheds, and more, metal buildings can undergo customization to accommodate virtually any climate, need, or building code requirement.

This particular prefabricated metal building has housed Prairie Lake’s municipal operations for nearly a decade, maintaining its style, functionality, and structural integrity along the way. A small community situated within Wisconsin’s Barron County, Prairie Lake lies about 5 miles from Chetek and roughly 40 miles from Chippewa Falls.

Along its right end wall, the metal government building opens into an existing 60’x12’ building that was already onsite at the time of the new building’s erection, and distributed throughout the newer of the two structures are (4) framed openings. Featured are (2) 3070 openings enclosing (2) 3070 walk doors and (2) 24”x30” window kits that allow natural sunlight inside.

A high-performance insulation package serves as a key municipal building customization, with 9.5” of high R-value, R-38 insulation installed in the roof and 6” of WMP-VR-backed fiberglass insulation installed within the walls.
