Goverment Building in Prairie Lake, Wisconsin
Sunward Steel Buildings, Inc., manufactured and supplied this preconstructed steel building on behalf of a customer in Prairie Lake, Wisconsin, in June of 2010.
Currently, it functions as a municipal building for the small town of Prairie Lake, which is home to about 1,500 residents. An addition to an existing shop and garage building already onsite, this insulated, highly energy-efficient steel building stands tall in the face of heavy snow, strong winds and other Wisconsin construction concerns, giving town administrators a safe, secure and reliable space to work and serve the surrounding community.
Municipal Building Details
Designed with the utmost strength and durability in mind, the metal municipal building features premium-quality steel construction and stands 60’x20’x12’ in size. Stone Beige in color, it boasts an eye-catching, aesthetically pleasing exterior that blends well with the style of the surrounding landscape, and overhead, an insulated Ultra-Dek 24-gauge snap-together standing-seam roof with a .5:12 pitch offers prime protection from the elements.
Along its right end wall, the metal government building opens into an existing 60’x12’ building that was already onsite at the time of the new building’s erection, and distributed throughout the newer of the two structures are (4) framed openings. Featured are (2) 3070 openings enclosing (2) 3070 walk doors and (2) 24”x30” window kits that allow natural sunlight inside.
A high-performance insulation package serves as a key municipal building customization, with 9.5” of high R-value, R-38 insulation installed in the roof and 6” of WMP-VR-backed fiberglass insulation installed within the walls. The insulation package helps keep the facility’s energy bills low, and it also allows municipal workers to stay comfortable, regardless of time of year. A 90-mph wind speed rating and a high, 42-psf snow load serve as additional customizations made in compliance with local building codes.
