Sunward Steel Buildings, Inc. had the honor of manufacturing and supplying this pre-engineered steel building on behalf of a customer in Kiln, Mississippi, in late March of 2007.

Nowadays, it serves as the home base for the Bayou Talla Fellowship, a dynamic Baptist church and children’s ministry serving residents of the surrounding Gulf Coast. The church has a more than 109-year history in the region and has grown considerably in size and scope through the years. Currently, if offers preschool programs, a youth center,

Sunday School services, a large-scale, multi-use activities center and two separate outdoor playgrounds, among other key features.

Building Specifications

Equal parts attractive and functional, the prefabricated steel church building features high-end steel construction, a finished size of 72’x148.42’x23’ and an unobstructed, clear-span design that provides ample head room. Misty Grey in color, the church building boasts a rugged, hardwearing Galvalume metal roof with a 1:12 pitch overhead, and it also features Misty Grey trim that matches its exterior.

Distributed throughout the bright, open church building are (35) framed openings, among them (3) 3070 openings enclosing (3) 3070 commercial walk door kits and (4) 17’1” skylights that allow plenty of natural sunlight inside the space. Also featured are (2) 2’8”x7’5” walk door framed openings, (24) 3’x5’ windows and (2) 3’x3’ windows.

Additional customizations made to the metal church include beams and columns for mezzanine framing and several accommodations made in adherence to local building codes, among them a 130-mph wind speed rating and a 5-psf ground snow load.
