Prefabricated Steel Winery Building in St. Helena, California

Sunward Steel Buildings, Inc., was the proud manufacturer and provider of this pre-engineered steel building in St. Helena, California, in November of 1998.

Now in use as a winery building on the grounds of Kelham Vineyards & Winery, a family-owned vineyard and winery in the heart of Napa Valley that produces around 4,000 cases of wine annually, the property is a popular tourist destination that also provides fine foods for guests who come for tastings. While cabernet sauvignon is both a fan-favorite and a primary focus of the grape grower and winemaker, it also makes a number of other varieties, among them sauvignon blanc, a Napa Valley rosé and red and white port blends, among others.

Ideal Construction Options for Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries

Affordable to purchase, raise and maintain, steel wineries, breweries and distilleries are becoming increasingly visible in cities and communities across the nation as entrepreneurs seek out spaces to use to produce or serve beer, wine or liquor. Available with broad clear spans that maximize interior square footage by eliminating the need for interior supports, prefabricated steel buildings also make great tasting rooms, production spaces, storage areas and administrative offices for alcohol-industry businesses.

This particular metal winery offers unrivaled durability and ample interior space, providing plenty of room for wine tanks, corking machines, cleaning and sanitation equipment, and other assets of interest to the vineyard and winery owner.  Located within Northern California’s scenic, verdant wine country, the city of St. Helena is a part of Napa County. The community sits roughly 66 miles north of San Francisco and about 25 miles, by car, from Santa Rosa.

Building Specifications

Sturdy, exceedingly durable and engineered to last for generations, this prefabricated metal winery building became a part of the property in 1998, after new owners purchased the existing Shadowbrook Winery that occupied the space beforehand. Once raised, the winery stands an expansive 60’x120’x18’ in size, and it features high clearance that makes it better-suited for housing winemaking equipment and otherwise serving the winery owner’s needs.

The exterior of the steel winery boasts a striking, stucco façade that results in ample curb appeal, and a robust and corrosion-resistant Galvalume steel roof with a 4:12 pitch sits overhead, protecting vineyard and winery assets from extreme temperatures, intense sunlight and the elements. An 80-mph wind speed rating serves as a supplemental winery feature, an inclusion made in compliance with building codes currently in place across the region.
